We went from a old 600 sq ft house to a 3000 sq ft beautiful key west style home. Schachne architects worked with us to fit our needs and their expertise in design made our ideas a reality. We loved working with them and highly recommend them. Darren A.-Davie
We hired Stan and Donna to design and renovate our master bathroom knowing that they could translate our vision into a reality. Their design took advantage of the existing footprint of our master bath and suggested unique elements that we hadn't thought of. Their team of excellent craftsmen did a great job and the project came in on budget and on time. We highly recommend Schachne Architects and Builders. If you want to work with a design build team in the Southeast US, we recommend you call Stan & Donna. They will earn your trust and you will be as thrilled as we are with your results. K. Morris - Weston
Stan and Donna did a wonderful job remodeling our house. The scope of the job included our kitchen, family room, 3 bedrooms, laundry room, formal living room and dining room, foyer and 2 1/2 bathrooms. They both listened to what we wanted and provided a computerized 3-D design for us to see. The design was exactly what we envisioned for the house, an updated modern look but still maintaining a family friendly atmosphere throughout. We were able to remain close to budget as well as the time frame. They did a professional job, kept us informed throughout the whole process and made the whole experience very painless with minimal stress. Our family is very happy with our new home and would highly recommend Schachne Architects. DeLa C - Cooper City
WHY I HIRED STAN: After interviewing several [I think 5 or 6 in total] design/build firms I hired Schachne Architects & Builders for three reasons: 1) I simply liked Stan. He was personable and direct. Basically an all-around great guy. 2) He gave me a full page of references. I called every single one of them and they all had nothing but glowing things to say. And, several were repeat customers of large-scale jobs. 3) He was the most honest and realistic person I spoke to regarding my scope of work, likely duration of project and ballpark cost based on my scope of work.
SCOPE OF WORK: Our project initially included the addition of a second floor. However, due to various reasons, we scaled back the scope of work and decided against a second floor. Our final scope of work included enclosure of carport into garage, building a courtyard, gutting down to the studs and re-doing both bathrooms [plumbing stayed in place but all new fixtures, tile, etc.], new tile flooring throughout, custom built-ins throughout [living, dining and bedrooms], new interior doors, trim, and paint, and new lighting throughout. We broke ground around Nov-2013 and were done about a year later. Frankly, it would have been sooner if various life-events hadn't slowed the progress [all our doing - not Stan's!].
EASE OF WORKING RELATIONSHIP: During our project we lost several pets to terminal illnesses, went through fertility treatments and a twin pregnancy. It was not an ideal time in our lives to be undergoing a full home renovation. Yet, through it all, Stan and his subcontractors were absolutely amazing to work with! They worked within our schedule and limitations. They respected our privacy when we had to say goodbye to a much loved pet. They worked around my fertility treatments and pregnancy [appointments, bedrest, etc.]. I cannot imagine having gone through what we did over the last year working with anyone else.
DESIGN: I had a very clear vision of what my finished home would look like. But I'm neither an architect nor a designer. But I had Houzz! Stan went through each of my Ideabooks and we discussed at length what I liked about different images I'd saved. He would present me with his interpretation of my thoughts and we would then work together to find a design that was the right fit.
QUALITY OF PRODUCT: I am in love with my home. The floors are amazing. The custom cabinetry is gorgeous. My bathrooms finally look the way I'd always envisioned. Nothing is ever 100% perfect ... but whenever I had an issue I knew I could call Stan and he would be there to resolve the problem. In fact, just other day I had a minor issue [turns out it was my husband's fault and a simply fix] and I called Stan ... he put in a call to his subcontractor for me and the issue was addressed that day ... which was the day before Christmas Eve! I honestly didn't think we'd be able to get someone out for several days.
TIMING, BUDGET, ETC.: The project took longer than originally expected and cost more than originally budgeted. However, both were entirely due to changes we made and conflicts in our schedule. They were not in any way due to actions [or lack thereof] taken by Stan and his subcontractors. Life simply got in the way of our 'schedule' and I blew my budget because I kept selecting higher-end fixtures and products than we had originally budgeted.
IF I HAD TO DO IT AGAIN ... I would hire Stan. If we ever move and need to renovate, I will call Stan. If we decide to build a home, I will call Stan. If we want to make any additions or changes to this house, I will call Stan. I will [and do] refer my friends and neighbors to Stan. He is a great guy, a solid architect and contractor, and a pleasure to work with.
My house is listed on Schachne Architects & Builders' Web Site or Houzz site. 'Modern Transformation' Jennifer D - Ft. Lauderdale
I hired Schachne Architects & Builders for an extensive condo remodel resulting in an excellent and beautiful final product. I was thoroughly impressed with their design, ongoing collaborative consultations, and execution. The subcontractors that were used for structural work, lighting, painting, tile work and woodwork were all quality craftsmen. Schachne Architects and Builders also provided creative design solutions for storage, display areas for art, and built-in cabinetry. I would highly recommend them. Anne O. - Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Schachne Architects & Builders designed and rebuilt a master bathroom in my residence. The project started out as a problem solving matter: no one could identify the source of a leak in the master bathroom exterior wall. By the time the project was over we had completely demolished, redesigned and rebuilt the master bathroom. There were 3 stages to this project: find and resolve the leak (it turned out to be due to the foundation); redesign a new master bathroom and rebuild it. Our bathroom turned out tremendous. It is a very sophisticated design that was built extremely well. I highly recommend Schachne Architects & Builders. We have plans for a major remodel in our home in the future and we will be using them again. George C.-Plantation
We selected Schachne Architects and builders to do a small addition (cabana) to our home since we liked the fact that we got two services by one person for a job as this. He was very attentive from start to finish and stayed on target to meet our aggressive deadline. The work is first class and we get loads of comments on finding such a detailed builder in south Florida.
We would recommend his work to anyone looking for additions or any other construction where you want personal service and no runaround like you can often get with builders, especially for smaller projects, in this area. We enjoy our new addition often and will think of Schachne Architects and Builders next time we do one.Katherine S.-Davie
Working closely with Stan Schachne greatly helped us in meeting all of our renovation goals. We wanted a kitchen full of light, fairly traditional but with an eclectic twist. We also wanted a large porch with a tropical flair off the livingroom and a brand new hurricane-rated metal roof. Stan guided us through the design and construction process and turned our concepts into functional space in ways we had not thought of. His solid experience avoided costly errors and he always provided us with accurate estimates for costs and time to complete the project. He was able to make recommendations that we had not thought of, to optimize the quality of the overall design while keeping construction costs down. His experience and advice turned out to be worth a great deal. He helped us define our goals. He understood factors that affected the overall quality of the project, such as the need for indoor-outdoor family life and the real square footage required for the porch of our dreams. While we had a good idea of what we wanted, Stan didn't only review our decisions, but also made recommendations whenever he saw a potentially better approach.
Stan created the best physical environment for the kitchen and the porch within both our budget and our time frame. He had our best interests at heart, and we were always able to communicate with him openly as the project developed. We were living abroad at that time and comunications could have been a problem but Stan made it very easy: he called us, emailed us, sent pictures of the renovation at every stage, he even took pictures of the kitchen at different times of the day to show our the light changed the room...
Stan carefully edited our ideas by giving to our works of art space to breath and light to unleash their magic. Luisa and Cliff T.-Plantation
Schachne Architects & Builders has done several projects in my home - kitchen, 3 bathrooms, plus a front porch addition. All of my experiences with Stan Schachne have been positive. He was always available to answer questions, and solve any problems. He was especially helpful giving me a "vision" of what I wanted.

Schachne Archtiects was the architect for our home renovation. The existing house was a 1950's era one story 1900 sq.ft. house and Stan designed a second floor, Key West inspired, renovation adding an additional 1500 sq.ft.
They provided great value and were easy to work with. Communication was responsive and provided clear answers to our questions. We are very happy with the way the house turned out and would highly recommend them to friends and family if they needed an architect.James A.-Coral Ridge
